NOAA says we may have a warmer than normal spring
For those who think spring is the best time in Iowa, Monday morning, March 20, at 5:28 (Central time), is a time to utter a “Hooray!” Spring will officially be here.
It isn’t the weather that will make it spring, although forecasts are calling for a high close to 60 degrees. At 5:28, the sun will shine directly on the equator and it crosses from the southern hemisphere to the northern hemisphere. Day and night will be equal, and the amount of daylight will continue to increase until summer begins June 21.
All of rural Iowa watches the progress of planting during the spring, and that depends on the weather. The National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) is predicting a 33 percent chance that Iowa has above average temperatures for April, May andJune. NOAA doesn’t have a prediction for moisture, showing there are equal chances of having below, normal, or more than normal precipitation.
